When Wisdom Sounds Like “Wait”

Reader,

We often think wisdom is only needed for life’s big decisions, like who to marry, where to live, and what career to pursue. But God invites us to seek His wisdom in everything. The big things and the small.

His wisdom includes the routines that feel ordinary or mundane, like how we care for our hair.

Yes, even your wash day can be a space where you exercise wisdom. When you slow down, listen to what your hair needs, and create space for peace instead of stress, you’re not just caring for your hair. You’re also honoring the temple God gave you.

✍🏽 GUIDED GROWTH
Walking in Wisdom

Being arrogant enough to think you know enough to set your life on the desired path of success will be humbling. Yet, human beings have had this mindset since the beginning of time. Read On…

🙌🏼 TREASURE THIS

Wisdom in Wash Day

There are times when you may feel like rushing through wash day, just to get it done and over with. The problem with rushing is that when you do so, it's a sign you are being impatient, which can cause more harm than good.

So, wisdom may say, "Not today. Let's put our hair up and give it the TLC it needs on a day when I'm not feeling so rushed."

Here are a few ways wisdom can show up in your wash day:

  • Take the pressure off. If your energy is low or your schedule’s tight, some light detangling and a protective style might be wiser than forcing a full routine when you just don't have it in you.
  • Simplify your steps. While a full spa day for your hair may be very satisfying, scaling back and doing the essentials may be what's best in the moment: cleansing, conditioning, detangling, and moisturizing. Extra treatments can wait until your schedule (and soul) can handle more.
  • Choose tools that help, not hinder. Using the right hair tools can save your strands and your sanity. Gentle tools reduce breakage, especially on fine natural hair. Here are some tools that I absolutely love and use again and again on my fine hair, for they have helped me to retain precious length:

Wisdom isn’t just what you do. It’s how you do it. With patience. With peace. And with purpose.
