Reader,

For many of us, natural hair care is quite personal. It comes with routines, frustrations, and moments of joy. But beyond the deep conditioning, protective styles, and detangling tools, something deeper is happening.

Caring for your hair is one way to honor the body God gave you.

Our natural hair is not random. It is part of His intentional design. When we show up to care for it with patience and purpose, we reflect His love for what He has created.

This week, we are exploring how a heart of honor can shape the way we live, speak, and care for our hair.

✍🏽 GUIDED GROWTH
A Heart of Honor

This month’s devotional explores what it means to truly honor God from the heart. It’s easy to go through the motions, but real honor flows from a place of deep love and gratitude for who God is and what He’s done.

In this post, I’m sharing personal reflections, scripture insights, and encouragement to help you stay grounded in your faith and grow in your daily walk with the Lord. Read On…

💡 QUICK CROWN TIP

Detangle gently and mindfully this month, honoring your crown as part of God's temple.

Finger detangling or using a wide-tooth comb with conditioner under the shower stream can help reduce breakage. Be patient. Your hair deserves the same care as the rest of your body. God has given it to you.

Small Steps, Big Shifts

Honoring God does not always happen in big, dramatic moments. Often it starts with the small and consistent choices we make every day.

When you care for your natural hair with patience and purpose, you are doing more than following a routine. You are honoring the body God handcrafted with care. You are practicing stewardship. You are choosing gratitude over frustration and trust over discouragement.

You moisturize. You protect your ends. You deep condition and wait for hair growth. Yet, sometimes, that growth feels slow. However, each time you show up and care for your hair with love and intention, you are showing gratitude to our creator.

This scripture comes to mind:

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit... You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body." 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (NIV)

If you have ever felt stuck in your thoughts or discouraged by slow progress, one tool that can help you stay grounded is a journal.
The 5-Minute Journal is just one of many journals, but what I like about it is how it's set up to support a mindset of thankfulness.

It is not a hair care journal, but it supports the kind of mindset that helps you show up with peace, focus, and, of course, thanksgiving.

Inside you will find:

• A space to list three things you are grateful for
• Simple prompts to set intentions for your day
• A spot to write affirmations that speak truth over your identity
• Evening reflections on what stood out and what you learned
• Weekly challenges to gently stretch your thinking and habits

I've owned the 5-Minute Journal for quite some time and have used it off and on over the years. It can help you stay encouraged in your hair journey, improve your mindset, and be a great resource for capturing your journey.

📆 EVENT

7-Day Heart of Honor Challenge

Because honoring your body includes the way you care for it (that includes your hair), your heart, and your thoughts, I'm hosting a 7-day heart of honor challenge.

Begins tomorrow, Monday, May 5th. Join me for a gentle reset that honors your hair, your faith, and your mindset.

This seven-day challenge is designed to be a low-stress way to help you live with more intention. Each day provides you with a short prompt to guide you in:

  • Replacing negative thinking with truth
  • Caring for your crown with gentleness
  • Creating space to honor what matters most

You do not need a perfect routine. Just a willing heart.

The seven days of simple prompts will help you show up with more care, intention, and respect for what God has given you, including your hair. Go at your own pace. No pressure. Here are the 7 prompts:

Day 1: Slow down and notice

Day 2: Say something kind about yourself

Day 3: Handle with care

Day 4: Focus on one thing you like

Day 5: Practice being thankful on purpose

Day 6: Let go of the pressure

Day 7: Look back and check in

I created a free PDF so you can print it off to have handy and provide you with your heart focus for the day. It goes into more detail on each prompt. You can grab it here.
