There's this term that's been thrown around on socials for a while now that I don't particularly love. It's "Aesthetic Hair Care."

​

If you look at most of the content surrounding aesthetic hair care on Pinterest, for example, it's little more than images of hair products and some cute hairstyles. These don't actually speak to HOW to achieve what is being called aesthetic hair care.

​

📈 GROW IN GRACE​
​Grace in Faith and Beauty

Just like your faith, your hair will flourish when it's nurtured with patience, care, and consistency.

​

You have to trust the process of growth. This includes appropriately moisturizing, trimming as needed, and protecting your hair. In the same way, we must trust the journey of spiritual growth.

​

"God’s grace is like deep conditioning for the soul, softening the rough edges, strengthening our foundation, and restoring us when we feel weary." Source unknown, but isn't this such a good picture painted of grace?!

​

In the same way that breakage and setbacks can hinder hair growth, doubt and distractions can stunt our spiritual walk. But consistency gives way to transformation.

​

Just as your hair thrives with nourishment and protection (protective styles anyone?!), your faith flourishes when it's nourished with prayer/scripture and protected when you spend time with God.

​

So, as you care for your hair this week, reflect on how you're caring for your spirit as well.

​

• Are you deep conditioning your soul with the Word?
• Are you trimming away habits that no longer serve you?

​

Give yourself grace, knowing that growth—both in faith and hair is a journey, not a race.

Ancient Practice Modern Day Results

Throughout history, women have cherished their hair as a symbol of beauty, strength, and identity.

In ancient times, women would anoint their hair with fragrances derived from myrrh, argan, and olive oil. It wasn't just for nourishing the hair but also as an act of self-care.

​

Even today, the art of hair care remains a purposeful practice. It's a time to slow down and connect with oneself.

​

The Bible tells us that a woman’s hair is her crown and glory (1 Corinthians 11:15). Don't make this out to be more than it is. Your hair isn't to be worshipped. It's just a reminder that it's a part of our body that needs care and not neglect.

​

One treasured practice to try is a herbal hair rinse. It's inspired by age-old beauty practices. Here's a simple recipe:

​

1. Infuse rosemary, hibiscus, or chamomile tea leaves in warm water
2. Allow the mixture to steep
3. Use as a final rinse after rinsing out your deep conditioner.

​

This simple recipe and practice strengthen the hair and enhance shine.
