This week my son’s caregiver went on a medical leave.

CJ is 25 and multi-disabled, and when she left, the help we both so desperately rely on was no longer there. That created a ton of overwhelm for me.

I work from home, so I was still managing my workload while making sure CJ had what he needed, running to doctor’s appointments since he has surgery in about a month, keeping up with physical therapy for myself, and trying to keep the house from slipping into chaos.

Somewhere in all of that, I still needed to wash my hair. It had been longer than I want to admit.

There were moments I felt so overwhelmed I wanted to cry. All I could pray was, “God, please help me. Give me wisdom.”

Maybe you have had a week like that too, where even basic care feels like one more thing you cannot quite get to.

But here is what I know. If I kept postponing my wash day, my hair goals would suffer. Breakage would increase, and setbacks would surely happen.

What feels small in the moment compounds over time.

So today, I want to share a starting point that helps me reset when life feels loud, but my hair goals still matter. Hopefully, this will help you if you're feeling overwhelmed too.

A Spring Reset Routine

When you feel behind, you don't always need to start over. Of course, there are some situations when that's necessary, but more often than not, you just need a reset.

Spring is a good time to realign your faith, your hair care, and your focus so small neglect does not turn into long term setbacks.

If this season feels like it sneaked up on you, this will help you to reset and be intentional about it.

🙌🏼 TREASURE THIS

Release The Overwhelm

Overwhelm will try to convince you that taking time out for your self-care doesn't matter.

It whispers in your ear that if you can't do everything, you may as well do nothing. That's a subtle lie from the enemy.

Allowing overwhelm to cause you to stagnate is what will cause you to lose sight of your goals. The way forward is not to stay stuck, but to pause and realign.

When you choose to reset, it doesn't have to be dramatic. It just needs to be deliberate.

It can look like:

  • Making the time to wash and deep condition your hair before breakage sets in
  • Prioritizing time in the Word and for prayer, before you feel so distant from God, it feels impossible to reconnect to Him
  • Reassessing your priorities before distraction becomes your north star direction

Neglect compounds quietly.

But, so does faithfulness.

When you feel behind, your mind gets cluttered. Everything feels urgent. Everything also feels so undone.

That's why a reset requires clarity.

One of the simplest ways to reset your focus is to get everything out of your head and onto paper.

Not ten planners.
Not a complicated system.
Just a place to see it all clearly.

That's why I like using the Rocketbook reusable smart notebook.

I love it for doing a brain dump, underlining what feels overwhelming, and then organizing what actually matters. Once I've captured what matters, I can upload the pages and wipe them clean to start fresh.

If your thoughts feel scattered, this might be a practical tool to help you create space for a reset.

You don't need a perfect system to reset.

You just need clarity and the next faithful step.

Getting all the "stuff" out of your head is a powerful way to release overwhelm's grip on you.

đź’ˇ FAITHFUL STRAND TIP

If your schedule is full, prioritize scalp care first.

A clean, moisturized scalp protects growth even when your styling is simple.
