When you think about your natural hair, do you approach it with gratitude or frustration?

What might shift if the first thought wasn’t how to “fix” your hair, but how to thank God for it?

3 Confidence Killers (and What to Replace Them With)

Confidence in your natural hair journey isn’t something you stumble into. It is built through consistent choices and scriptural reminders.

Below are three common confidence killers and what to do instead:

1. Constant Comparison

Seeing someone else’s hair flourish can make it feel like you’re always behind.

Truth to stand on: “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way” Psalm 37

What to do instead:

  • Unfollow social accounts that trigger comparison
  • Pick a verse of scripture to meditate on that keeps you grounded in truth vs comparison before going on social media

2. Product Hopping

Trying every product that's introduced to you can quickly leave your hair and your confidence in a messy place.

Truth to stand on: “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.
” Proverbs 21:5

What to do instead:

  • Choose one trusted product line. Commit to it for at least 30 days
  • Keep a simple log of how your hair responds, focusing on things like moisture, manageability, and health - not perfection

My recommended product line that keeps my hair in top shape is Ominira Naturals. If you've been on my socials for any time, then you know that you know. Use my discount code MICHELLE15 to save 15% off everything.

3. Leaving God Out of the Process

When we leave prayer or dependence on God out, even our good intentions and routines can fall flat.

Truth to stand on: “Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

What to do instead:

  • Before your wash day or whenever you plan your hair routine, pray. Some people may find it trivial, but we are believers, and that's what believers do. We pray about everything.
  • Ask God for wisdom, patience, and joy as you care for your hair.
  • Keep a small notebook or journal nearby so you can write down your prayers and reflections. Check out this waterproof journal. The ink won't even smudge if it gets wet.

When you replace these patterns with the truth of God's Word, the pressures of life lift, and your journey becomes more peaceful.

WHAT I'M LOVING THIS MONTH

When I was thinking about what to share, I couldn’t decide between 2 products that I'm really loving, so I’m sharing them both!

Kinky Tresses Hair Butter

Now that it’s nearly fall, I like to switch over to thicker hair sealants, and this butter is exactly what I needed. It keeps my hair softer and moisturized longer thanks to its sealing properties. Check it out here

High Frequency Wand

My aesthetician finishes off all of my facials with a high frequency device. It helps keep acne at bay by using electric signals to kill bacteria in the skin. It So, you know i had to get one for home. They can run upwards of about $150 but I found a really affordable one on Amazon (less than $40). Plus, the one I bought has an attachment for stimulating hair growth and boosting collagen in the skin.

Reader, For years, I’ve seen it happen. Women, myself included, start strong in one area of life. We’re motivated, focused, and ready. But then life happens. We get pulled in every direction. We give so much to everyone else. And the things that matter most: our time with God, even something as simple as consistent hair care, quietly get deprioritized. It’s not that we don’t care. It’s that we’re human. And in the middle of it all, that quiet pressure builds. The voice that says, “You’re not...
