Nearly two weeks in and many people have already flopped on their new year resolutions. Could it be that they were biting off more than they could chew?

Often times, we set big goals but the foundation is weak or flawed. It's like setting out to run a 5K when you've barely jogged around a block. The goal was good but there was nothing to prepare you for it.

Let's make it even more relevant. Life... in general. We sometimes try to do too much and then give up because we lacked a good foundation. Well, I want to share with you what I believe is the foundation that every Christian woman needs. It's not about the big lofty goal.

Can we just focus on one day at a time?

Here's what I pulled together for you this week...

🙌🏼 SACRED SELF CARE

Finish the Last Thing

Instead of starting something new, close a loop. Maybe it's:

  • Sending the message you’ve been avoiding.
  • Making the decision you’ve been postponing.
  • Writing down the next step instead of holding it in your head.

You know what it is. This is self care because unfinished things quietly tax your peace. They sit in the background, stealing energy and clarity.

Tie up that loose end.

🙌🏼 TREASURE THIS

Foundations Are Built in Ordinary Days

There's something slowly but surely life changing about being obedient in the ordinary day to day stuff, especially when nothing feels impressive yet.

We live in a world that celebrates the finish line but rarely honors the process, the preparation.

The glow-up. The breakthrough. The visible fruit. That's the finish line people strive to jump straight to but Scripture and real life tell a different story: God is deeply invested in foundations.

Before seeing the tangible from the promise, there is process.
Before the fruit, there are seeds and roots to grow.
Before the “yes,” there are many days before that; you just need to keep showing up - even when you feel tired or unsure.

This is why so many resolutions flop. Not because the desire was wrong, but because the foundation was rushed. Rather, there was none.

We ask a future version of ourselves to do what our present habits can’t sustain.

God doesn’t work like that.

He gives daily bread, not weekly or yearly portions.

He invites us to walk, not leap. And He is just as present in the mundane as He is in the miraculous.

If all you can manage today is faithfulness in this hour (ex: sticking to the plans you made, praying without using fancy words, choosing obedience without applause) then treasure that. That is where endurance is formed; foundations are built. Firm it up.

Taking one day at a time is not a consolation prize. It's a strategy.

And, the woman who learns to honor small beginnings is the woman who won’t crumble when God entrusts her with more.

That's all I have for you today. Oh and this:

Even if you don't do protective styles, you can preserve the integrity of the ends of your hair by smoothing a bit of castor oil over them.
